50 more VET institutions to adopt proven approaches with Skills4Recovery support

Fifty vocational education and training institutions from 17 regions of Ukraine have launched projects to improve training quality, strengthen cooperation with employers and create more inclusive learning environments. Supported by Skills4Recovery and implemented by GoGlobal NGO, the initiative will help institutions adopt proven approaches and adapt them to their local needs.

The institutions were selected through the grant competition “Dissemination of Proven Vocational Education Practices in the Agricultural Sector”, implemented by GoGlobal with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

On 30 September 2026, representatives of all 50 selected institutions gathered in Kyiv for a kick-off event organised by GoGlobal. The meeting marked the start of project implementation and provided an opportunity for participating teams to prepare for the next steps.

Participating teams received practical guidance on project implementation, financial procedures and reporting requirements.

Three areas for practical improvements

The selected institutions will implement projects across three priority areas:

  1. Cooperation with businesses – 12 institutions will strengthen the practical skills of vocational training instructors through internships at companies and production facilities.

  2. Inclusive learning environments – 13 institutions will work to remove barriers and create more accessible learning spaces.

  3. Career guidance and employment support – 25 institutions will establish or improve career centres to help students explore employment opportunities, develop career plans and prepare to enter the labour market.

Together, these projects address some of the key challenges facing Ukraine's VET system: ensuring that training reflects employers' needs, making education more accessible and helping students make the transition from education to employment.

The selected institutions will implement their projects by the end of November 2026, with GoGlobal providing mentoring, consultations and monitoring support throughout the process.

Once implementation is complete, the participating institutions' experiences and results will be brought together and presented at a final event.

By helping VET providers adopt and adapt approaches that have already demonstrated their value, Skills4Recovery supports the spread of practical improvements across Ukraine's vocational education system.

This initiative complements Skills4Recovery's broader efforts to scale up proven approaches across the country. Under a separate grant programme, “Scaling VET Improvements: Support for Replication of Proven Approaches by Training Providers in Ukraine”, implemented by the National Development Institution, another 51 VET institutions have been selected to introduce practical improvements across six priority areas.

Together, these efforts contribute to a more inclusive, adaptable and employer-responsive VET system, helping Ukraine prepare the skilled workforce needed for recovery and long-term economic development.

The project “Dissemination of Proven Vocational Education Practices in the Agricultural Sector” is implemented by GoGlobal NGO with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as part of the Multi Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery.

Skills4Recovery is jointly co-financed by the European Union, Germany, Poland, Estonia and Denmark, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL).
