A grant project on modernising vocational training was presented at the Burshtyn Professional College of Power Engineering of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas. The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union, Germany, Poland, and Estonia under the Multi Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery.
The project presentation and discussions held on 24 June and 22 July marked important milestones in strengthening cooperation between the college, employers, local authorities, and the university. The initiative aims to update the content of vocational education and improve student training in line with modern labour market needs.
During the events, participants discussed approaches to adapting curricula, developing digital competencies and soft skills, as well as the challenges facing young professionals in the context of Ukraine’s wartime and post-war recovery. Sharing his perspective, college student Yaroslav Bodnar emphasized the importance of new opportunities for employment and professional development that will open for students following the announced changes.
In his address, Krzysztof Łukjanowicz, Consul of the Republic of Poland, highlighted the importance of supporting young people in gaining modern education and stressed the role of international partnerships in driving Ukraine’s economic recovery.
The panel discussions brought together representatives of educational institutions, local authorities, and businesses, who underlined the need for sustained dialogue between education and industry. Particular attention was paid to mechanisms for feedback from employers that will help improve curricula.
