Lviv Region Trains Specialists for Modernized Economy
The project of the Chervonohrad Professional Mining and Construction Lyceum has become one of the winners of the grant competition of the Multi Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery. Its implementation marks an important step towards enhancing the quality of vocational education, strengthening cooperation with employers, and preparing young people for the challenges of the modern labour market.
The initiative “ROBOTIC PROCESS AUTOMATION—A Step Towards Efficiency” aims to comprehensively modernize the institution’s training process for repair fitters and welders. In close cooperation with processing industry representatives, the lyceum is updating curricula, introducing automation technologies into production training, and developing digital skills among young people.
Within the project:
• modern equipment with warranty service is being purchased;
• teachers are undergoing training in robotics and laser welding;
• new teaching methodologies are being developed as part of a sustainable educational programme;
• best practices are being disseminated through inter-institutional cooperation with other educational establishments.
As part of the project, a strategic workshop “Modernizing Educational Programmes to Meet the Needs of the Regional Labour Market” was held in Sheptytske on 30 June. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv, an international industrial automation equipment company, regional employers, local authorities, and educators.
Participants analyzed effective mechanisms for updating curricula in line with labour market demands, the need to develop both technical and soft skills, and the importance of aligning educational programmes with real market needs and local development strategies. The key message of the workshop was clear: only close cooperation between education, business, and government can create an effective vocational training system that responds to modern challenges and promotes sustainable regional development.
The project also includes a series of career counselling sessions for young people, aimed at shaping their professional profiles. Lyceum students are learning how to prepare CVs, build personal brands, and familiarise themselves with modern employer requirements.
Vocational education in Ukraine is gradually transforming into a space of innovation, partnership, and growth. In Sheptytske, this transformation is already happening — through practical solutions, dialogue between education and business, and a strong focus on the future. The project “ROBOTIC PROCESS AUTOMATION – A Step Towards Efficiency” is a vivid example of how vocational education can respond to the challenges of the time, preparing competitive specialists for an economy that is recovering and aligning with European standards.
